Design is part of everything I do. Really, no matter what I’m doing, design comes into play. Once I began to externalize and analyze my process, I realize I apply it to most everything in my life. Things are considered for their parts and developed for the whole.

The problem may be about efficiency, attraction, or comprehension — the results will vary, but the process is the same.
I‘ve had the opportunity to use these powers for good purposes in my career — I’m a graphic designer. I will be completing my 4th professional year as a designer this December and it's been quite a journey. As with any journey there are moments of struggle and moments of jubilation; no matter what the intention of the trip the journey always yields education. I’ve got wonderful things to be proud of, but most of all I’m proud of the things I’ve learned.

As of 2003, LearnitCorp was a major developer of computer training titles, manifested as both a consumer brand (Learnit Today) and as a vendor for Microsoft Training and custom development. A change in business direction resulted in a disbanding of the consumer brand in a move to focus on the corporate brand. Simultaneously, LearnitCorp chose to expand the previously corporate aimed library of training to become accessible to the consumer. The redesign of the website came in response to this new direction.

The new website is bright and clean, accessible for both corporate and home users. Specially considered 'solution' pages, directed at separate target audiences, create a comfortable context for orienting the user's needs to the LearnitCorp training titles. The concise navigation makes it possible for the advanced user to find specifically what they're looking for while a host of enticing buttons help the casual user find their way to the content suited for them.

Founded in 1996, Cloudspace is an award winning Internet services company specializing in Website and online software development, multimedia, digital design and content managment systems. Cloudspace's clients are as diverse as it's abilities, catering to entertainment, technology, non-profit and professional services industries. To speak clearly to their audience, and to handle their explosive growth, Cloudspace undertook a major website redesign.

The design goals were clear: An easily navigable site focused at their target industries, offering custom and out-of-the-box solutions for their specific needs. They needed a site that followed through on the client relationship, providing online support and account management solutions. Finally, they needed a site both techy clean and invitingly creative — amplifying the brand and tying it to the best of their work.

The result was a success on all fronts. The Cloudspace redesign is highly functional and stylish site with an unmistakeably concise and consistent information structure. It shares a design philosophy inherant in all good sites, while breaking from the pack with the precision of it's implementation.

DJ/Producer Adam Freemer's site is a result of conversation and imagination. After some work, Adam and I found our style: futuristic and quietly impressive. It represented the medium in which he crafted his music (entirely in the realm of electronics), and the weight and importance of the music.

I used Lightwave 3D[6] to model and animate the flying objects used in the header graphics. Animations were tuned to have especially short cycle lengths, and therefore required relatively small files sizes. These pieces were exported as vector sequences via Electric Rain's Swift 3D LW Plugin.

Adams site is almost entirely dynamcally driven. Content is loaded during the initial preload as XML and is formatted for display within Flash. Thumbnail images are created via a proprietary image cropping and thumbnailing system, developed by myself and the cloudspace team, which features a Flash front end and SWF output for dynamic use in Flash websites.

DJ/ Producer Tom Stephan (aka Superchumbo) had a particular appreciation for experimental websites. He was looking for a website that would represent him professionally, carrying his bio, audio clips, news, tour dates, and other such "traditional" information. He wanted an intriguing site that would represent his experimental natur as well as a site his fans could congregate around; something that presented his personality and sense of humor.

Our unusual solution was to create two websites for Tom Stephan. Superchumbo.com (mirrored as TomStephan.com) carried his vital information, and chumbomudno.com, an informal playground for Tom to connect to his fans.

Both sites are highly updatable. With a php/mysql backend, these sites recieve their content via dynamic XML. XML content is recieved in the initial download, and is formatted and displayed within dynamic and modular Flash interface elements.

Features include a fully functional Flash message board, and a highly sylized tour journal and picture post.

Known for its intimate feel and large industry turnout, the 2003 Lake Placid Film Forum features more than 60 films and dozens of unique educational events. I worked closely with the Adirondack Film Society and Esquire Magazine, designers of the event's print collateral, to create an information rich website consistent with the established brand.

Simplicity and the suggestion of print identifies the website for New World Image, a print production management agency. As NWI works primarily face to face and in person on each individual project, we created this microsite as an online calling card to plant the company identity on the web, and share a little about their process and philosophy.

When Nationwide Insurance made a mass move in technology, giving their agents new Tablet PCs, The LearnitCorp team helped make the transition easier. As part of the LearnitCorp team, I helped create a 3 part multimedia presentation educating employees on operating the new hardware, and teaching them how to get more out of this efficient new way of working.

Caduceus International Publishing creates unique and effective online lessons in medical terminology. When they began to outgrow their humble beginnings, they contacted me to help more effectively bring these courses to the web. I created an intuitive interface for their training that brought streaming audio and images to the table, while making their courses completely managable by XML.
* To be implemented January 2005.

Generally, commercial work is an innapropriate forum for experimenting with one's visual personality. Because of this, it can't really tell the complete tale of a person's potential and abilities. It is for this that I've decided to add these projects. Some are experiments in motion, color, type and style; some to test the limits of the software. Some old, some new. All of them are a little piece of who I am.

I offer these with no reasons and no explanations except the passion for production, and the exploration of media.
